Romantic Destinations in Manama, Bahrain

Not only the capital and the largest city of Bahrain, Manama includes a rich history and diverse community that makes it one of the most visited destinations in the Middle East. It is precisely its vibrant culture and stunning geography, that makes the city so romantic at any time of the year.

Bahrain Fort (Qal`at al-Bahrain). Also known as the Fort of Bahrain, the archeological site is composed of an artificial mound created and inhabited by humans from 2300 BC up to the 18th century. The fort may seem like a typical historical site, but its picturesque location near the coast, especially during evenings make for an unforgettable sight.

The Tree of Life. Thirty kilometers south of the city is the famous Tree of Life, a lonesome 400-year old tree in the middle of the desert. While you would not exactly take your date to this dry location, the story of this tree, or lack thereof, is enough to draw you to its unique charm. Because of the lack of water resources surrounding it, scientists have yet to discover how the tree continues to survive. Locals also believed that this was once the location of the biblical Garden of Eden.

The Nightlife. Not just for tourists, the city of Manama is considered to be an escape for expats and locals of neighboring Arab countries where alcohol is banned. Thus, the club and bar scene can be quite colorful. If you’re looking for a more serene environment for a romantic evening, there is Lilo Café that is renowned for its elegant interiors and delectable desserts.

Another is Glamour Lounge & Bar at the Al Sarif Hotel & Tower, with its sophisticated and relaxing ambience that appeals to a more discriminating crowd. In addition to the lounge, the hotel in Manama also often includes various promotions like its recent romantic hotel package for Valentine’s Day, offering guests charming hotel accommodations and an exquisite Valentine’s Day dinner for 2.

The Gulf. If you’re not one to celebrate love in the conventional manner like a trip out in the country or availing of Valentine’s Day hotel packages, Manama’s location offers you a heartwarming experience out in the gulf. A boat trip to the gulf takes you and your date to a thrilling sight of dolphins and manatees playing in their natural habitat, refreshing views of the gulf waters, and a spectacular view of the Manama sunset. What could be more romantic than that?
